ASA OK Tire Series Presented by Advance Testing Awards
Banquet 2013
The ASA Sportsman Series celebrated the 2013 season in
Quesnel, where sportsman races gathered for the 2013 banquet. Mike Ernst with
support from the Quesnel racing community put on a great night of celebration and
fun for the BC provincial touring Series. The Series competed at five different
tracks this year, three in the north, two in the Okanagan, and one in the south.
29 different racers competed in the series with the average team travelling
5000 kilometers. Many Awards were given out to ASA touring racers.
The Best appearing crew was earned
by the number 47 Adelman car. A sharp dressed bunch. Most improved driver was
shared between rookie contender “Super” Dave Haworth and Jeff Cameron. Both
drivers working very hard on their programs. The most sportsmanlike driver,
voted on by all of the drivers, was Korbin Thomas, edging Mark Berriau out by
one vote. Logan Jewel and team earned the best appearing car award in the shining
number 92 Chevy Impala. Rookie of the year was won by Butch Hein, three points
ahead of Dave Haworth. A strong start to the season with 2 wins in 2 racers,
left Matt Stephenson struggling with mechanical issues and reluctantly
collecting the hard luck award. Leigh Graham, crew chief of the number 18 car
of Ian graham, top three points contender three years in a row was awarded the most
committed crew member award. John Ross racer and owner of Advance Testing was recognized
as Sponsor of the year for his commitment to the ASA racing series. Long time
volunteer Jackie Baker earned the president’s award. Presented by Gary
MacCarthy for her years of commitment and leadership in the series. Top ten
drivers were presented with a banner of their car and finishing position.
Third place Ian Graham thanked his crew and sponsors for their
hard work and commitment. The number 18 driver, a young gun in the series and
consistent threat to win a championship.
Second place Logan Jewel, with a special thanks to his
sponsor MacCarthy Motors accepted the runner up trophy with a smile.
2013 points champion
Korbin Thomas with a big thanks to his car owner Dave Key and faithful crew
member Tyler Polaski. With 2 wins and three podiums, Korbin had a nearly
perfect season. He thanked his fellow competitors for the good racing and competitive
spirit everyone brings to the series.
